Terms Of Service
All of the rules you need to know about using your ClanBot are listed in the Terms of Service, please be sure to read and become familiar with them. I. Information
A. ClanBots was founded by a Dynamix IRC user to enhance interaction between users
as well as provide an easier source for information about clans.
B. The purpose of this document is to provide ClanBot users an official source
containing the rules and procedures for all applications associated with ClanBots
and ClanBots.org
II. Application Procedure
A. Please visit the application page and fill out an application. You will be
notified as soon as possible with the results. Please be sure to read the
channel requirements page before applying.
III. Results of Application
A. Accepted
i. Upon acceptance, you will be sent an email with an ID number and activation
code as well as written directions on how to setup the bot in your channel.
B. Denied
i. If your request has been denied, you will be notified by email with a
description of the reason. This is a final decision - no negotiating is
permitted.
IV. Bot Use
A. Rules
i. Channel Rules
a. All ClanBots must have at least level 400 access in the channel. The
command to add them is: !adduser *ClanBots 400
b. Any Bot Abuse (Kick/Ban/Delop etc.) will be grounds for suspension of
your ClanBot.
c. Abusing a ClanBot to obtain another bot service is strictly forbidden and
will result in a ban from using ClanBots services.
ii. Interaction Rules
a. Content posted on the bot must be gaming related only.
iii. Forbidden Content
a. No content, links or any other type of information may be added to any
ClanBot that would be in violation of the IRC Network AUP.
B. Infractions of Rules
i. Upon infraction, the case will be presented to ClanBots Staff for
discussion over the severity of the infraction as well as what method
to take to solve and/or prevent this infraction from happening again.
This may result in (including, but not limited to) removal from ClanBots
services, removal from the network, or, if necessary, legal action.
V. Admins
A. Security Overrides
i. Security Overrides by Staff may ONLY be used in select situations. Staff
may not op themselves, or do any other admin action (kick, ban, deop, etc.)
unless there has been an Infraction of the Terms of Service or IRC Network AUP.
ii. Staff is permitted to be added to channels, but must be done so by
someone with Level 40 access in that channel. Upon receiving this addition,
they will be free to do all commands that the level they were granted allows
them to do.
iii. By applying for a ClanBot, you give us the right to globally
ban any trouble-making user from your channel using our built
in auto ban list.
iv. As we well banning certain users, you also give us the right to
place occasional global messages in your channel.
VI. Bot Access Levels
A. Level 400 - ClanBots Senior Admins
B. Level 300 - ClanBots Admins.
C. Level 200 - ClanBots Tech Support.
D. Level 100 - ClanBots Trial Helper.
E. Level 40 - Granted to the owner of a ClanBots member channel. This owner will
be protected from others granted level 40 access in the same channel.
F. Levels 10-40 - Granted by level 40+ access members.
VII. Bot Access and Security
A. Access Levels
i. ClanBots Staff will have level 100-400 access to all bots. This grants them
the freedom to use any of the ClanBots commands in any channel.
ii. Upon activation, clan channel owners will be granted level 40 access to
their bot in their channel. This grants them the power to add/delete users
as well as any of the other commands. These will only work for the clans
channel, and access will only be granted to other channels by their
individual owners. No exceptions.
iii. Any attempt to override any type of restricted security settings will be
considered hacking and will result in removal from all ClanBots services
as well as, if need be, referral to the IRC Network Staff.
VIII. General Behavior
A. User Interaction
i. Users are expected to treat others with respect.
ii. Actions intended to degrade another's experience with ClanBots and/or
the IRC Network (including, but not limited to threats, message flooding and
ban evasions) are considered harassment and will not be tolerated.
iii. If you are being harassed, /ignore that person. This will usually end the
problem. If they still bother you after the ignore, contact a ClanBots
Staff member.
B. Staff Interaction
i. Users are expected to treat ClanBots Staff members with respect. In the
same regard, staff members must treat all users with the same respect.
ii. If a ClanBots Staff member notifies you that you are violating either the
ClanBots Terms of Service or the IRC Network AUP, you must stop the violation(s)
immediately. Failure to do so will result in diciplinary action and/or
referral to the IRC Network Staff.
iii. If you feel a ClanBots Staff member is abusing their privileges, please
notify a higher ranking ClanBots Staff member immediately with a
description of the abuse, logs (if possible) and the name of the Staff
member at fault. We will not release your name unless a specific request
is made to do so (to prevent retaliation on part of the Staff member at
fault). All may be done in a PM or through email to evilmonkey@clanbots.org.
IX. Intellectual Property Rights
A. All bots, scripts, code, and artwork completed for ClanBots or ClanBots.org
become the property of ClanBots. No source code may be shared without permission
from the acting founder(s) to any outside, competing source.
B. All bots, scripts, code, and artwork completed for ClanBots will include original
authors name and may not be removed or altered at any time.
X. Network Infrastructure
A. The term "infrastructure" includes the computers, programs and data that comprise
the ClanBot servers (including services) and all connections between them.
B. Any attempt to alter, hack and/or attack the network infrastructure will be considered
trespassing and may result in an immediate ban from the network, reports to your
network provider(s) and, if necessary, legal action.
XI. IRC Network and AUP
A. The IRC Network is defined as the provider of the network the ClanBot is connected to.
B. The IRC Network Acceptable Use Policy must be followed at all times. Failure to
comply will result in referral to IRC Network Staff for further diciplinary action.
XII. Interpretation
A. ClanBots Staff will interpret the Terms of Service if there is any question or debate.
XIII. Changes to Terms of Service
A. Any additions, deletions or modifications to the Terms of Service will be noted
in the #Clanbots topic and posted in the news section of the ClanBots website.
